Project Scope

In a Ningxia cooked-food factory, an industrial PC, PLC-triggered barcode scanner and API connect product identifiers, weight totals and warehouse records. The host interface returns a receipt number after the defined upload.

The system was designed for the customer’s product and process. Specifications, operating speed and acceptance depend on the agreed project documents.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Why scanning was added after weighing and labelling

The weighing and labelling system had already automated weight acquisition and label application. The next requirement was to connect the labelled product and its weight summary to the customer’s warehouse workflow without repeating manual data entry.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

From product sensor to the host system

A product sensor triggers the PLC; the PLC controls the barcode scanner. The industrial PC receives the scan via LAN and uses local product data to identify the corresponding item. The application consolidates weight information and transmits specified fields via the customer’s API. The host system returns the warehouse receipt number.

DATA MODEL

Fields that must stay aligned

The integration links Product ID, item code, product name, relevant weight totals, upload time and the warehouse receipt identifier. Customer master data and the agreed API define which fields are authoritative and when records are uploaded.

ACTUAL SOFTWARE SCREEN

Operating records and warehouse receipts

The actual application screen shows upload records and supports searching by date, product name, item code and status. Operators can inspect receipt numbers, upload timestamps and the relevant accounting period.

EXCEPTION HANDLING

Scanning and API errors need defined responses

A failed scan produces a PLC alarm and a software exception prompt. Normal and exception histories remain available for investigation, and CSV export supports review and reconciliation. Network interruptions and mismatched identifiers must be handled under the agreed interface procedure.

PROJECT VALUE

Extending equipment data into warehouse operations

The project links weight information to identifiable products, reduces duplicate manual registration and gives operators searchable scan and upload histories. The key deliverable is not just a scanner, but the association between equipment events and warehouse records.
